FLASH NEWS ABOUT STRIKE POSITION ON SECOND DAY IN GUJARAT CIRCLE

I am very glad to note here that Banaskantha division has totally joined Strike on Second day as informed by Com.Bhatol DS and Com. Desai Circle office bearer. Today 100% strike at BK division deserves congratulations. "Better late then never"

I have also received news from Com.Prakash Rathod, senior P.3 leader at Bhavnagar that P.4 comrades at Bhavnagar has totally joined Strike today and 100% members have joined this historical struggle. I appreciate efforts of all members and hope that P.3 comrades will also join today.

RED SALUTE

ADMIRING COMPLIMENTS TO ALL COMRADES OF GUJARAT CIRCLE
FOR HISTORICAL PARTICIPATION
IN TWO DAYS STRIKE

A BRIEF REPORT:

VALSAD-BARDOLI AND NAVSARI DIVISIONS IN SOUTH GUJARAT
-SHOWS BRIGHT WAY TO GUJARAT CIRCLE

In the beginning of the morning, I received a message in my mobile from young comrades of Valsad division as under:

Dear Comrade, Valsad HO have been never closed before but today all three gates at compound of Valsad HO is not opened due to 100% Strike ”.

Can there be a better ‘Good and brighter’ Morning for a Circle Secretary while managing Strike in a big Circle like Gujarat?

Com.Solanki, Suman, Irfan, Ajmeri, Desai and so many comrades proudly talked with me about glittering success in their division in launching strike.

Immediately I received information from Com.KDTailor, Chandrakant, Ketan and other members about Navsari division. They told very proudly that Navsari HO is totally closed down. Most of the offices of the division is closed. Here we are observing total strike…..

Soon after both inspiring news, Com.ACChaudhari, Sanmukhbhai Patel and Mansukh Galchar from Bardoli division affectedly informed that they are also having 100% success in commencing two days strike.

Thus from all these three divisions in south Gujarat of Vadodara region, pleasing response was received which was exemplary for all others. I specially congratulate these divisions for their committed endeavors and contribution to trade union movement in Gujarat Circle.

AHMEDABAD GPO AND CITY DIVISION CREATES A HISTORY

I was receiving number of calls from all comrades of Ahmedabad GPO and Ahmedabad City division who were gathered in huge numbers at the main gate of Ahmedabad GPO. Oh God….What a stimulating picture was before me! A huge crowd was assembled with red coloured flags of NFPE in their hands, shouting rock-hard slogans about unity of postal employees and expressing strike demands in front of many cameras and media persons who were waiting for me for an interview! All of us will never forget this historical scenario where Postal and RMS/MMS employees from all corners of Ahmedabad under banners of NFPE and FNPO were united and witnessing a historical agitation at Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad GPO was locked for the first time for such a massive agitation. Com.Mansuri, ADSolanki, LDSolanki, Natubhai Parmar, Mahesh Jani(NFPE), Bhikhusinh Gohil, AKSolanki, FKParmar,(FNPO) and so many other comrades from Ahmedabad GPO and City division were standing in front with shining faces showing a strong will to fight against any atrocity on postal employees. All Circle Secretaries from both federations were also leading the mass.Shri.CPNayi CS P.4(FNPO) Com.RSMalek CS P.4 (NFPE), ,R.N.Parmar CS P.3(FNPO),KBDesai CS R.3 (FNPO) and leaders from all wings were also witnessing the memorable moments.

I may note here that this time, co operation and contribution from leaders of FNPO was very much encouraging at Circle as well as Divisional level. We had also a very big meeting of all members from all unions at Ahmedabad GPO on 19.02.12 evening which was attended by more than 200 members, retired Comrades like Com.Ramanlal Parmar Ex CS P.4(NFPE), Manubhai Parmar Ex.CHQ Leader & DS Ahd GPO P.4(NFPE), GKWaghela Ex.CHQ Leader and DS P.3 Ahd GPO (FNPO) etc and all CS who announced to make two days strike a grand success. I have honour to mention that while addressing this big meeting, Shri.GKWaghela Ex.CHQ Vice President and Ex DS P.3 (FNPO) loudly and proudly remembered name of Com. Babu Tarapade Great founder leader of NFPE and informed junior members about his sacrifices the history of trade union movement.

PORBANDAR AND JAMNAGAR DIVISIONS- SILENT BUT STRONG SOLDIERS

I may again come to put on record, brief of first days’ Strike in divisions of Gujarat Circle. Com.AVNikola from Jamnagar and Com.HPHindocha from Porbandar informed that they are having total strike in their divisions. These divisions have very silently but effectively implemented the agitation program and kept name of our union on heights in their divisions. I congratulated them.

GONDAL DIVISION- ALWAYS FIRM AND FOREMOST

News from Gondal division was also exciting. This division is headed by Com.SKVaishnav our Circle President P.3 and Com.Devmurari P.4. Here, the strike was 90%successful. The team of Gondal division can do miracles, we know.

RAJKOT DIVISION – ALWAYS AHEAD…A GOOD TEAM WORK.
In the beginning, I heard from Com.KBChudasama Asst CS at Rajkot that only Executive Members are remaining on Strike but by the noon, position was different and satisfactory as except 4-5 TSOs, all offices at Rajkot were closed and maximum members have participated in the strike. Com.Sharadbhai Teraiya CHQ Leader and Circle President P.4, Com.VKParmar DS P.3 and other leaders at Rajkot deserve congratulations for strong and immediate response.

AMRELI DIVISION- BECOMING APICENTRE OF AGITATIONS:

I was waiting about Amreli division and the position here was beyond expectations. Both unions were working quite united and there was total strike at Amreli division. Members were seating in huge numbers in a big pandal out side compound of Amreli HO. Com.Mrs.Dhanani DS P.3, Com.KAKanada Senior leader P.3, Com.BKTrivedi DS P.3 (FNPO) and all other leaders of Amreli division have done very well. Com.Mangrolie one of the senior leaders, on tour, was constantly guiding members from Hyderabad.

JUNAGADH DIVISION- PARRENT DIVISION OF CS,
A MODEL CENTER FOR YOUNG COMRADES

I have very much proud to talk about Junagadh division which is my parent division. I had advised Comrades to issue a very small circular in the division with ten lines only with a note that son of Junagadh is leading and managing strike of whole circle and therefore responsibility of members of the division would be especially significant to embark upon two days strike without awaiting any further meetings and propaganda. I have no words to appreciate all members of Junagadh division looking to 100% positive response and not only P.3 and P.4 but all GDS employees of this division also remained on Strike. ‘Red salute’ to all comrades at Junagadh. Com.salim Nai DS.P.4, Sanjay Bhatt, HVParmar, Deven Purohit P.4, RBNimbark, MLMori, Firoz Malek, Jayesh Itolia, MNMaheta, PKTalavia P.3, Rajubhai Agravat GDS, STThaiyab GDS, Kaushik Maheta GDS and so many young comrades created a history in the division. I am very much proud about Com. Nalin Chotalia who is DS P.3 but recently promoted as APM Accounts Gandhinagar also came back to Junagadh  and contributed to make the strike a grand success. Com.RBNimbark remained busy in Strike arrangements inspite of death of near relative! Here Shri.GBKhuman DS P.3(FNPO), Com. Divyesh Mandalia P.3(FNPO), DDNimavat P.4(FNPO) are also having very sound and strong commitment and unity for welfare of postal employees. Com.Mandaliya is a member of FNPO but he is always helping me in updating my knowledge about technology. I thank him specially.

KACHCHH DIVISION ON TOP AS USUAL- ‘KACHCHHDO BARE MAAS!’
Kachchh division is always remaining on top and prompt in every agitation programs under dynamic leadership of Com. Mihir Gandhi DS P.3. Here a very good unity and coherence was established between Com.Mihir (NFPE), Mahesh (FNPO) and H K Gusai (BPEF). Com.Naresh Bhatt Senior GDS Leader and also the best combination of newly selected young brigade of D R Gor, V K Chauhan, L B Gadhvi, P S Gusai, V P Sheth, B H Abada, S H Vaghela, and matured and senior comrades S V Mehta, K J Gohil, K R Sura, D J Dubal,P S Joshi has also contributed their best for making the strike successful and here GDS employees and entire staff of Divisional Office also remained on strike. There was big pandal out side Bhuj HO and members were gathered in large number to demonstrate their zeal and power of unity by shouting slogans about Strike demands. Whole team of Kachchh division deserves special appreciation.

PATAN and SABARKANTHA DIVISIONS: ON TOP IN NORTH GUJARAT.

Young leader Com.Balvant Raval from Patan division was also very happily informing me that there is 100% success in strike in Patan division. Com.Makwana, RJPatel, (NFPE) Shri. Desai (FNPO). I specially record thanks to Senior Comrade Shri. N.V.Akhani who worked for unity not only in Patan division but also took up his task at Mahesana division also. Com. Trivedi from Sabarkantha division also informed that in the morning it was doubted that there will be problems but in the noon the position is improved and there is 60% success. I congratulate all members who made sincere efforts and remained on strike.

SENIOR LEADERS OF BHAVNAGAR, BANASKANTHA, MAHESANA, VADODARA AND BHARUCH- URGED TO JOIN TOMMORROW
There are some problems at Bhavnagar division but young team will act in response maturely on the next day and it is expected that Bhavnagar division which has shining history of trade union movement will join strike on the second day. At Banaskantha and Mahesana division, our senior comrades are leading the union and they were unable to remain on strike on the first day but I was assured that they will remain on strike on the second day. Similar was the position at Vadodara and Bharuch division. I hope that members will look at the historical success in entire Gujarat Circle and will not remain on back point on the second day. This is the golden chance to be with our comrades and put our strength in the total strength of working class of the country.

COMRADES, YOU HAVE BRIGHTENED IMAGE OF GUJARAT CIRCLE

There may be more glittering news from several divisions but being very much busy throughout the day and till late night, I may not be able to collect some information from divisions or I may have missed few names of comrades in particular divisions while writing this brief at midnight. I congratulate all of you and if any member is not on strike on the first day, I appeal to join on the second and last day. The Strike is about 80% on the first day and I hope that it will be 100% on the second day.

Dear Comrades, I quite honestly let you know that as and when we were attending any All India programs of union, other circles were not having bright image about Gujarat Circle in the matter of agitations and Strikes. I don’t say that they were correct but I can very proudly say today that all members of Gujarat Circle have put name of Gujarat Circle on top and brightened the reputation of our Circle in the country.

I reproduce a message received from Respected Com. M.Krishnan Secretary General NFPE as under:

‘congratulations and Red Salute. Yes, under your able leadership Gujarat Circle will be emerging fast to Number one position. We are really proud of you, Comrade.=M.Krishnan SG NFPE.’

Comrades, thank you very much for strong unity and massive achievement.

WE ARE NOT GOING TO SURRENDER.
JOIN THE TWO DAYS STRIKE ON FEBRUARY 20 & 21
We, the Postal employees, have a proud and inspiring history of participating in the freedom struggle of our country against the British imperialism and in the post-independent India against the onslaughts of the retrograde policies of the Government of India.  Many of our leaders and comrades have sacrificed their life for the cause of the coming generation.  Job security, wages, pension and other service benefits are all the outcome of the struggle and sacrifice of hundreds and thousands of such comrades.  They faced dismissal, removal, suspension, increment cut, transfer to remote places, break-in-service and other severe victimisations.  Dies-non was not at all a punishment for them.  They never complained about wage-cut due to dies-non.  Not even  a single benefit was given by the Government without struggle and consequent heavy victimisations.  1st to 6th Pay Commissions were appointed by the Government only after the united struggle of the employees, each time.
Now we are facing a very crucial and critical situation.  The ill-effects of the neo-liberal economic policies of the Central Government has become the greatest threat to the survival of the entire working class, especially Central Government employees including five and a half lakhs Postal, R M S and Gramin Dak Sevaks.  The question before us is -Are we able to protect our job security and hard-earned benefits?  Are we ready to fight or are we going to surrender before this attack?  The answer is - No. We are not going to surrender.  We will continue our fight till the imperialist globalisation policies are thrown to winds, just as we have thrown the British imperialism out of our country.   We are not alone, crores and crores of workers and employees are with us in this fight.  We are ready for sacrifice.   We are not going to run away from  our responsibilities.  We shall face the challenge and continue our fight to change the system in our favour.  Ultimate victory will be ours.
It is this uncompromising spirit and the readiness for sacrifice, that made National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE) to join the two-days historic strike of the working class on 2013 February 20, 21.  The strike is being organised by the entire trade unions including INTUC, BMS and the left trade unions.  In the Postal, the strike is organised by Central JCA, including NFPE and the INTUC affiliated FNPO.  This is the first time in the history of India a cent per cent united strike of 48 hours by all the Unions and Federtions is taking place.  More than ten crores workers will participate in the strike.  The working class of India, in one voice, demand the UPA Government to change the imperialist globalisation policies.
Central Government employees are the first victims of the neo-liberal economic policies pursued by the Central Government from 1991 onwards.  During the last twenty years about eight lakhs posts are abolished.  Still five lakhs posts are lying vacant in various departments.  Many departments are closed or privatised.  More and more casual and contract workers are engaged.  Social security schemes, including statutory Pension scheme are given a go-bye.  Instead, share market oriented contributory Pension scheme is introduced.  Three lakhs Gramin Dak Sevaks of the Postal department are denied of their legitimate rights.  Casual, Part-time, contingent employees are not given their due wage revision.  Even compassionate appointments are denied imposing arbitrary restrictions.  Bonus ceiling not raised.  Further the Government has declared the National Postal Policy 2012 which is nothing but a road-map to privatisation of Postal Services by granting licences to the multi-national courier services.
The demand for appointment of 7th Pay Commission is not yet accepted, inspite of the thundering success of the 12th December 2012 strike organised by Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers.  As an impact of the strike, all the Central Trade Unions have submitted a memorandum to the Finance Minister to announce constitution of 7th CPC in the February 2013 budget itself.  Still the Government is silent on Pay Commission and merger of 50% DA.  February 20, 21 strike is a continuation of 12th December strike.
The steep rise in prices of essential commodities, disbanding of the public distribution system, deregulation of petrol and diesel prices , disinvestment of public sector, rise in unemployment, shrinking of employment opportunities, proposed move to amend the labour laws in favour of the employers, attack on social security, denial of assured pension for all, introduction of contract and casual labour system in all sectors, denial of minimum wage of Rs.10,000/- to industrial workers, refusal to remove bonus and PF ceilings etc. are all due to this neo-liberal economic policies.
The attack is all round.  To save the Postal, to save the Central Govt. departments, to save the public sector, to save the common people and workers of our country including Postal employees the only way out is to fight back these policies.  Let us wholeheartedly join this struggle and make it a historic success.
